Hi Music Lover, I own a MB 2015 and never experiences shutdowns due to overheating... that's weird. Are you sure that with this particular use the MBP is gonna work properly?
It is outside in the sunshine I having issues, not elsewhere. No idea if a MB Pro can cope but it has a fan.

However the big minus is the lack of TB3 on the MB.

I am in the same situation, but I decided to wait for the 2018 revision.
If the MB will get TB3, I will stick to it, otherwise I will switch to the MBP.
Going to keep the MB 2015 but a new Mac is to be purchased regardless, in a few weeks. Need more speed.
A 2017 MB with the best CPU or a 2017 Pro without TB...

What is TB3?

Thunderbolt 3 I guess.
Got it.

Did some research.
MB support USB 3.1 Gen 1 (up to 5 Gbit/s)
Pro support both USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to10 Gbit/s) and Thunderbolt (up to 40 Gbit/s)

WOW!!
What a difference.
Thanks for the heads up!

Check that nothing is stuck in the port that you use to charge. My cable its completely flush with my rMB, and recently a small chip of wood got stuck, making the cable stick out a millimeter.
You're talking about the connector not completely entering the hole.
I'm talking about the white plastic coming slightly above the edge of the top of the case.
