Hi fate0311, you most certainly are not the only one using the Magic Keyboard for the MBP. I not only use the Magic Keyboard but also the Magic Trackpad. I have the MBP mounted on a Loctek arm next to an LG 5K monitor mounted on another arm, so the MBP's internal display is just an extension of the 5K monitor (helpful for certain tasks). Hence I almost never use the MBP's internal keyboard/trackpad, except, of course, when I take the MBP on the road.

I use both the Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad 2, with my 15" MBP parked on a Rain Design mStand. For the record, greasy keys bother me too.

I would, but every time I seem to go into bootcamp I loose connection. I just plugged a usb keyboard into my USB C dock now and use a mouse when in Windows, when I'n Mac OS I use the usb keyboard and a Magic Trackpad.

The keys drive me nuts. I wash my hands more than a surgeon and clean the keyboard 3-4 times a day but its hopeless.

The greasy key effect on the new gen keyboards does bug me a bit (just because some keys show it more than others due to use), but not enough to use an external keyboard just for that reason. When my MacBook Pro is docked I'll use an external keyboard, but when it is not docked, I don't have any problem using the built in keyboard on my MBP.

I didn't get my first Mac until 2014, but by 2017 my 2014 MBA had greasy keys all around. TBH I think this is inevitable and not worth losing sleep over. I'll rub the keyboard with a (lightly) wet microfiber cloth every once in a while and that's it.

So you bought an expensive laptop to make it less portable because you have an OCD of hand grease? Just go and use alcohol wipes every week and it is not a problem at all.

Also, unless you sell it, why does the grease even matter? The laptop is not an art collection but a utility product meant to enhance you workflow.

Work on your OCD buddy it'll help you a lot more than the keyboard.

That’s all I do. It’s a reality, if I’m not getting grease spots (and I have clean hands), then I just not be using it enough. Lol.

I hate this also, and the reason why I love macbooks because they are in aluminium. If only they made the keyboard also in silver color !!! Black/dark color looks cool only in ad photos, never in real life.
