I bought the 42mm SS with Classic Buckle for delivery on release but starting to think from pictures that the leather loop is nicer.

Can someone who has tried both bands on tell me what is nicer and what the classic buckle is like in real life? I don't live near an apple store, thanks :)

I agree with that. The leather loop is nicer;)

I tried on all the bands except for the linked bracelet and the modern buckle. The classic buckle ended up being my favorite. There's a lot of detail in the classic buckle - it looks amazing in real life (especially when paired with the SS Watch).

this is a massive relief, I think it's because i like the look from above on the apple renders of how the watch goes into the band and how on the classic it doesn't. I hope it's nicer in real life because I love leather watch straps

The leather loop felt really odd to me, due to the magnets embedded in the strap. They make it feel ... weird. Almost plastic-y, not soft and supple at all.

Would that not wear in with use though?

Well at the very least you will have a watch on or near release date and if you don't like the classic buckle you can buy the loop one later after you get a chance to see it in person. Some people hate the classic buckle. Some people hate the leather loop. I think the Classic buckle has an elegant look for business and formal events and the leather loop looks more sporty and casual, though it could also pass in a business setting. Mind you, I'm going by pics. I've not visited an Apple Store yet even though I'm only about 15 minutes away from one. The first Apple watch I want to see in person is my own.

The classic buckle has a much better feel IMO. I personally like the look of it much more than the loop, but aesthetic quality is up to you.

Sorry for the off topic OP, I think I bought the wrong watch, went Sport Green, I want a Watch Milanese now! :(

The :apple:WATCH try-on rep told me that the quality of leather used in the Modern Buckle is of higher grade than the one with the Classic Buckle. I compared the two up close and agreed. Of course, we're talking $100 difference between the two, so I'm glad they didn't just upgrade the buckle, but the leather, too.

The classic band is fairly plane looking, but nice and professional looking. I ordered it mostly by default (it still had the 4/24-5/8 shipping window) but now that I've tried it on I'll probably be using it most often, with the Milanese loop the next most often.
