As I opened up my computer this morning and the Quark file I was working on yesterday is dated as last modified on April 26th. Anyone know how to search or get back the file I worked on and saved yesterday (May 3)?

If its deleted, it may still be in the trash?

Do you have a Time Machine backup of your data?

It's not and no

A file with the same name is on my desktop, but last modified was April 28th. I have worked on it and saved everyday since. I don't understand why it has reverted or where the updated file went!

Try this... launch Quark itself (not the file you were working on) and you should get a dialogue box like this offering to create a new file. Look at the top of that dialogue where it says Desktop in my screenshot. That should be the file location of the last default file you saved. Then ion Finder look in that folder to see if your file is there.

Nope, still just the April 26 file.

Are you sure you opened and saved the file on your desktop but not anywhere else?

If no, just type in the file name in spot light and wait for the result. If more then one file appear, check them one by one, may be you keep working on another file which you didn't realise.

Nope, one one file of that name appears. "Open recent Files" on Quark just opens the old version. The file is not on my hard drive, it must have gotten trashed. I need to know how to check trash files for it.

You can view the contents of your Trash by clicking on the Trash Can icon in the Dock (far right).

Get Time Machine set up. It will save your bacon in the future.

Thanks for the help...nothing worked. Gave up and recreated.
