Ever notice that when you're having trouble with your girlfriend, attractive girls start comming out everywhere?

Of course, there is the flip side of that. When you are single, it always seems that most girls aren't interested in you, but the minute you are seeing someone suddenly you find that other girls are throwing themselves at you, with only your morals keeping them at bay. :)

When I first started Uni, me and my sixth-form sweetheart decided to try and make it work. I was in London, she was in Stoke-On-Trent (like your girlfriend) at Keele. It was, all in all, pretty miserable. I hate maintaining a relationship over the phone. It just never felt right for me - and, as a result, it was probably my fault we split up. We eventually broke up in first Easter of university, but it was pretty obvious it wasn't gonna last since that Xmas.

Looking back I now wish we'd never bothered trying to make it work whilst we were at university. I think we both (or at least I) kinda knew it wouldn't last the distance. A lot of money and tears were spent trying to make it work, and we very nearly risked a friendship (luckily we are still friends now, but I think there are still 'issues' that lie beneath the surface of this friendship).

If you are so well suited, don't give up just because you're apart for now.
You didn't give up on Zelda because it got delayed for a year and a half, did you?

Wow. I just compared a girl to a video game  That's...sad.

To the above discussion:
Frankly, I find dating for fun to be silly. Dating is to find someone you get along with that you can spend the rest of your life with. I disagree with the "Oh, forget it and have fun dating for a year or two" assessment.

We are both huge Zelda fans I suppose :p I agree with you too. I can see how people would want to mess about, but for me I just want to settle down. My parents were married at 19 and they're now 50. Same for one set of my grandparents and they're now 80! Suppose it runs in the family.
Yea I can't leave her. She's just perfect. An independently thinking Catholic (doesn't believe in everything they say etc), finds me funny (it CAN happen!), could never cheat, etc. nah. things are very nice where they are :D but it's also that we've been through so much. She had a cancer scare not so long ago, and whilst we were stunt kiting once she broke her neck (C4 fracture? any spinal surgeons here). I mean she's absolutely in perfect health now. Even doing Karate, mountaineering and archery heh. Of course I'm a picture of perfect health and have never had an accident :D

Women like to toy with men's heads. You'll learn that in time, I'm sure. Women, as much as we need them for pleasure, are the enemy. Even if they're your soul mate, your one TRUE love, they're still the enemy!

Fight soldier! Fight!

Cheers Oni :)

Is this you talking or the guy in your 'tar. :p ;) :D :)

Wait until you get married, it gets even worse!

Something about having a ring on your finger makes you seem safe. Weird.

I guess now is the perfect time to ask about your avatar. What is it of? Zelda related? I ask because it looks like two butts rubbing up against each other.

/Thread de-railment over.

Oh, yes, sorry about troubles with the girlfriend. People naturally drift apart, and it's something that either happens or doesn't. Long distance relationships are especially harder. Good luck!

I commend you for that. That really is impressive. Suppose it'd help if I had a car, and you had a plane

There was a time when my girlfriend (now wife) was in Brighton and I was in Newport, South Wales. 4 hours by train. Then for a year she was in Evanston, Illinois and I was still in Newport, South Wales. Around 20 hours travel time and damned expensive!!

Was she at Northwestern? I live rigt by the campus.

Some people just aren't so inclined to dating as much as others. Quality over quantity I say.
Agreed. I'd rather date one good one than a bunch of bad ones. I'll usually go out with a girl several before I just break it off. Why? Because I already know that in a few months, I couldn't be with her and there's no future.

I guess you can date many girls and be happy, but it depends on what you want.

That sucks man. :(

Hope things get better for you. Me and my ex broke up a little while ago, and now things are starting to get better for me, and I'm not always sad. It takes a while after being in a long-term realtionship to heal though. :/
