I think I’ve figured out why the keyboard is so bad

Exactly what I described in this post. Performance issues when used in a “young” way rather than an “old” one.
Maybe Apple read it haha.


On iOS 26.4 it has improved significantly. It is still dramatically worse compared to Google Pixel, but now it is usable!

Just as importantly, can anyone say how it is compared to the keyboard in IOS 18?

I have been testing out a Pixel phone for a few days. I can say that the keyboard is my very favorite feature. There's so much I do not like about Android because I am so accustomed to Apple/Mac and the ecosystem, but if I could steal the keyboard and all of its smarts and pull it into iOS, I would be SUCH a happier iOS user.

My biggest gripe with the iOS keyboard lately is how badly the swiping keyboard works. It’s supposed to pick out what your word is but often predicts words (repeatedly) that make absolutely zero sense in context, like just making up “Andy” when I was going for “and”. This kind of thing happens constantly and didn’t use to happen much at all.
