I think the lesson from all of these posts is that A. If you're a new member no one in our wonderful community will trust you and B. Only put your credit card information into iTunes when you need it, then remove it.

I use a pre-paid credit card for my iTunes purchases and just keep £20 or so on it at any time. That way, I don't have to keep linking and unlinking it and it still keeps my risk limited.

I was hacked yesterday. Someone drained my iTunes account of $120.00 for an in app purchase within iMobster. I am the only person with access to my computers and iDevices. Noticed there was a 4th authorized computer on my account. I'm very careful with iTunes authorizations and only have 3 Macs authorized at a time! So, did the hacker authorize his/her computer with my account. My credit card info was removed from my account but my address was not changed. I emailed the iTunes help and it is an hour away from the 24 hours projected response and no word! More frustrating than the hacking in some ways. I used an old PC to deactivate all accounts in iTunes after linking a 5th computer. Also, changed my password and I'm carefully watching my credit card. I do not have a credit card in iTunes at this time.

Why doesn't Apple follow-up more quickly when you are hacked?

Itune Frauds

I can tell you for a fact that Itunes do not care, as ong as they get there cash. I had fraud on my account, yes they gave me a full refund, told me to change password & security question, but when I tried to test & purchase a song it would not let me use my card.
I tried to explain that the card had not been used in a fraud by they did not listen, they now will not even answer my e-mails.
Very professional corp, NOT.

Update on my hacking! I finally heard from an iTunes Rep on Sunday around mid-day. Certainly more than the 24 hours the automatic email promised. However, I have a learned a few things. First of all, deauthorizing the 5 computers, didn't remove the hacker from my account. The iTunes Team found the added computer from the date of the hack and shut down my entire account and re-activated it shortly afterwards when I requested and provided information. They could identify a "new" computer that was added on 05/18 - the day of the hack. Also, they recommended that you log out of iTunes or App Store after you finishing buying. I never did this before but do it now. Today I heard from a special Customer Care Rep by phone - probably b/c I Tweeted lots about this issue! He has been great and the money that was hacked is now returned to my computer. I've already spent it so it doesn't happen again! :). Need to look into a pre-paid credit card - not sure if there are fees or these are available at the bank.

GREAT SERVICE and hopefully all is well with new stronger passwords and new logout habits.

same experience as makingmusic

I had almost the same experience as makingmusic my credit card information was removed from my itunes account it now says no credit card information on file. My address was not changed the only difference from his case was the computer authorized it shows same as before it seem the hacker authorized his/her computer did the transaction then unauthorized it. I lost about 50$ in itunes credit, was saving my credit for the new OS Lion. I hope i get a quick response as you did [makingmusic] i filed my report early this morning. the app in question is -kingdomconquest- and it in app purchase the hacker did. two of the unathorized transaction were MHVZ6L05Z , MHVZ6KTL6 , my itunes account now have a credit of less than a dollar [ .76cents]

Weirdly enough I had a similar experience. I didn't find out about it until last night when iTunes notified me of an outstanding balance.
Thankfully my credit card wasn't registered to the account, but my PayPal account was and was charged only once. I'm gonna dispute it.

It was for something in iMobsters according to iTunes. Then various other charges came about right after. A few apps look familiar, a lot are pretty foreign to me.

It totals A LOT of money. I messaged Apple via iTunes support, we'll see what happens. If this is happening to so many people, perhaps it needs to go public.
