be careful with the rubbing. some people damaged their display or left a rubbing mark on the surface because the cloth was not soft enough. i have 5 dead pixels on my dell 24" screen and i can't see them unless i really look for them. so why not forget about it rather than risking damage to the screen.

Run this: http://www.jscreenfix.com/basic.php

If that doesn't work, take it back.

I had a few pixels on my 3-week old iMac that were either dead or stuck. I was beyond my 14-day window but the Mac Genius kindly swapped my machine with a new one. I now have a unit without dead pixels (of course now that I said that I'll discover 10 of them).
