Wow interesting how this turned out heh. I thought you were going to buy another Intel 320 drive...

Anyways, how's that working out for you? Any noticeable difference or any problems?

I would've been open to getting another Intel drive and I had the RMA set up. But after three days of waiting for it to ship I got frustrated and contacted Intel. After about an hour (mind you, this is after having spent a large handful of hours on support with them already) of pressuring them, turns out they didn't even have one in stock to send to me. So who knows how long that would've drawn out if I hadn't pushed them on it. At that point I was completely fed up with Intel's customer service. It has been atrocious all along; completely chaotic. I would've been fine with getting another Intel but when that went down, I was over it. Asked for a refund and was granted one. I just couldn't fathom the possibility of wasting another minute of my life with Intel customer service.

So far no problems with the Vertex 3. I had been running the computer off an old HDD and just cloned the boot drive volume to the SSD with Super Duper. Speeds are in the low to mid 400's according to a very quick AJA test. Really, that's about as far as I've gotten with things so far. Just doing an initial time machine backup of the new volume now.

Hey,

I've had the same problem as you two consecutive times now. I'm outside of the amazon return window so can't return it to them. Will have to try Intel RMA now.

Good luck! If Intel is dragging their feet, make them check if they actually have any replacement SSDs in stock and ready to ship. They won't be forthcoming with this info. That's what happened to me twice. It was days and days of waiting for them to ship the replacement, which they never did, and multiple hours on chat support before they admitted they didn't actually have any drives to ship. They don't want you to know this because if they don't have any drives to ship, they're obligated to honor a refund.

Did you have the SSD in the optical bay or HDD bay? My Intel drives were both in the optical bay. I have a Vertex 3 now in the HDD bay, running strong for over 2 weeks now, which is longer than either of the Intels lasted. Good luck!

That sucks. I just placed an order for one a couple of days ago (knowing that they were sold out at most retailers). Apparently this one is coming from the manufacturer directly - I hope they have something in stock...

I'm sure they will. Warranty stock is a whole different thing.

Guess what? I just happened to me!! hahahah

Oh man.. so so so disappointed with Intel. :(
