Does the rMBP run at 900/2508.

People are OC'ing to 1035/2800.

rmbp runs at 900/2500 (or 2508)--> basically the same thing.

rmbp can be overclocked to 1035 core (+135) however, gtx 660m can be overclocked to 1085 core (+135).

I don't think the extra memory bandwidth really does anything because the card does not need it.

The 1035 OC is only when using an locked PState. There have been threads where people have gotten over 1.1 ghz on the core using an unlocked Pstate.

I have my rMBP running at 1150/2350. Check the "Overclocking rMBP" thread for instructions how.

if you are only comparing against the 660m, which shouldnt, no they are around the same performance.

if you compare to the 7970m or the 680m, those cards are 200% faster.

If you compare to the 680mx it should be around 210-220% faster.

so just plain no.

I was going to come here to say this pretty much.

Windows 7, 8 (and I'm pretty sure Vista) can be installed directly onto a Mac without ever even touching bootcamp. In fact you could format the entire hard drive / SSD, remove OS X altogether and just use your MBP as a Windows PC if you wanted. Windows has supported EFI for a number of years now.

Not that I want to dig up an old threat but a little bit of a search function actually turns up this huge thread on macrumors.

Can I install Windows 7 without using the Bootcamp assistance? Yes you can.
Will it run with EFI? Not without some major hassle and non functioning drivers.
Again (and I have stated that much before) Apple is using an old/outdated/non-standartized version of UEFI. It is some kind of 1.1 flavor, where as Windows requires at least 2.0. You can get it to run but it is no walk in the park.
Installing Windows without using the Bootcamp assistance does not equal installing the EFI version of Windows!

Well, if by "major hassle" you mean putting in the Win 7 disc and selecting "EFI install" then yeah, it's a nightmare.

Actually, yes.

Sure the graphics aren't as detailed, but you can pop in any console game in any console it was made for and be sure as hell that the game will run without any hiccups.

So what? The rMBP will also run any modern game at max settings and 720p without any hiccups, in fact, it will run it better than any console (which usually run modern games at low visual settings and 720p) . Consoles trade visual quality for ease of setup.

Nobody games on Mac OSX...any mac gamer has Win7 installed on their MBP.

This is true. Even identical games are mostly faster on DirectX than OGL, like WoW, which is running about 10-20% faster on Windows.

And the 650M found in the rMBP is almost as fast as a stock 660M because it is overclocked (1254/900 instead of 900/850 MHz). You won't notice the difference.

I'm sorry...either you know a way of "clicking" some option when installing Windows 7, but as far as I know, you first will have to create an actual EFI bootable imagine out of a 64-Bit Version. That alone should be a major hassle for 90% of users. A little bit of googling will reveal that Windows 7 requires UEFI 2.0. Apple only provides some odd mix between 1.1 and 2.0.

But please do share your knowledge with us if you know an easy way how to install Windows 7 in UEFI mode on any Mac Hardware.

It's not a question of allowing UEFI. Apple uses a non-standard potpourri of EFI 1.1 and 2.0.
Windows 8 supposedly finally works on it though

Even if you can get Windows 8 to install in EFI mode, you'll still have problems with drivers. You can't use Apple's Boot Camp drivers, from what I know. So no means to control the keyboard backlighting, etc, etc...

Tell that to Snowshiro...he insists that Windows on EFI is sooo easily doable on an Mac ;-)

A NES will play the games made for it perfectly smooth as well...does that make it better than a modern PC?
