iDisk has always been one of the worst options for online storage. "Slow" doesn't do the pain of using it justice. I use it as a third backup for my very important documents. Beyond that, worthless.
which is why the storage upgrades are meaningless.

If the service isn't up and working 100% by the end of today without a public acknowledgement, I will be canceling my trial.
Hopefully others will do the same.

That's basically my point, said well and much more succinctly than I'm ever able.
Almost every feature Apple touted when introducing MobileMe I kept thinking, "Wow, ______ already does that for free." "Ummm... _____ has been doing that for years." They talk it up, put a pretty bow on it, and charge you. Basically the answer is, if the @me.com email address + having those features set up by putting your password once in System Preferences vs. having a few webpages bookmarked, go for it. But I'd spend the time left on your trial account figuring what about MobileMe attracts you most and compare those features to other options for using them.
MobileMe is to calendars, contacts and email as AOL is to ISPs. It's sub-par features and service delivered prettier (for us aesthetic folks) and easier (for those who wouldn't use those services otherwise) at a significantly higher price.
Could you please fill in those blanks to let me know how I can have push/sync with my iphone and macbook? If not, then stop making such generalizations.Almost every feature Apple touted when introducing MobileMe I kept thinking, "Wow, ______ already does that for free." I already have, but his assistant is on vacation and therefore he's not getting any emails pushed to him.
His assistant is in charge of manually synching his emails, calendar, and contacts.
Well, DUH! I'll gladly pay $99 a year to have it combined, easier, and prettier + push (or do you have an exchange server I could use?) that "just works" (which for me it does). You're paying to have it combined, easier and prettier.
For the iPhone, Microsoft Exchange.

d21mike said:You said for FREE. My understanding is you would have to pay for a Hosted Exchange Account. I have looked into it and I could only find services for between $5 and $12 per month. Do you know of a reliable FREE Exchange Host Service? And what features do you get?
Email: Gmail
Calendar: Google Calendar - just go to it in Safari
Contacts: Gmail
Done
As many have been saying on this thread: less pretty, less integrated, but each does the job better than MobileMe and it doesn't cost you anything...and doesn't go down repeatedly!
It easy of use/single sign-on, single vendor, massive intergration, pretty looks for you and the people you share with (web galleries), syncing of many items, and ADD FREE. To get all of that you got to pay. Dont like it then dont pay.
