All this fix does is make the bars show the reception you really have. Rather than showing that you have full bars you might see after the update that you actually only have 2 or 3 bars. It's not going to fix the signal drop issue that some are experiencing when touching the band. I haven't had any dropped calls or signal degradation while touching the spot, but I'm afraid that I'm only seeing full bars because of the wrong reception algorithm, and that after the update it will correct the display to show that I actually have a weaker signal.

You can't really believe that Apple this whole time has had the "wrong formula" for all of these years? All fanboys are blind......Apple is just coming out with an update to cover up the design flaw.......I bought a phone first and formost to BE A PHONE!

Everyone is saying, if you don't like it just return it. Well I did, and it cost me $55. Yes Apple is waiving the restocking fee, but At&t sure as hell took my $55. So all of you rude aggorgant people are saying it's not a big deal, should think before making foolish statements. I preordered my iPhone on the first day you could and got it the day before launch day. I did not know there would be this big of a problem. So don't say it's my fault, I'm really getting tired of the Apple apologist's saying it's not that big of a deal, just return it you don't like it. You may not think $55 is not that big of a deal, but it takes me an entire day of working to make that much money. I should get my money back due to it being a defective product. Anyone have any ideas how to get my money back?

then why hasnt the problem been fixed?

Because he sold 1.6 million in a weekend and the real compitition is just now getting started with the new Android system and better phones coming out this summer.

Wait til next year when Android is kicking ass with yet another nice OS update in Oct.(Gingerbread 3.0) and he scrambles to keep up. You will get a better iPhone but probably be behind Google who is starting to set the bar.

I e-mailed Mr. Jobs just a couple days ago, but I emailed him to ask him to make sure I have a white iPhone in my hand by my birthday on the 21st ;)

Yea, I doubt Apple would ever admit one of their products has a design flaw!

they won't admit it right away.

also, to the OP, it takes time to troubleshoot the issue and find a solution. They can't just have an update to the iPhone just for the sake of having an update, it has to be an actual solution.

Perhaps, but I'm just making it clear that this software update isn't going to fix the problem.

Wait, AT&T charged you restocking even after the Apple statement?

I don't have the problem I bought a case on my own terms so I could keep it looking nice if I decide to sell next year. My reception has actually been a lot better in my room which was a dead zone on my 3GS so I'm happy. Sucks that you're having the problem though and hopefully something comes to life soon, I just doubt that part.

I think he knows.

then why hasnt the problem been fixed?

Because he doesn't have a time machine.

Seriously though go through the AppleCare system and if you can't get a satisfactory resolution might as well send him an email. State your expectations, your experience, what you'd like Apple to do, your case number, serial number, and a phone number.

Odds are if there's anything Apple could do, that would do it.

I think this will sum it up......
