I thought I wanted the white, but after seeing it, it looks less than super elegant.

honestly, it's just a phone, it's not meant to reflect every aspect of your personal life.

besides, in a years time we'll probably have a completely redesigned phone.

The longer I have had my iPhone I find I care less about the outside and more of whats going on inside. The os , the apps. Could care less if it was hot pink. I stare at the screen and what's going on inside the screen. When I watch TV I'm looking at the screen, not the outside frame of my Samsung plasma tv.

Exactly. In 6 months (probably less) this will all be moot. We'll be selling our white iPhones to get the latest version.
 
So just a little story I thought would fit nicely in this insane thread..

Let me start off by saying I am a happily married 27 year old..

I went out this past weekend in Chicago, I got the white iPhone at launch (sold my black to lower the cost of full retail). I had my iPhone out at the bar and a girl came up to me and said she loved it and she would do anything to trade for her black. I said ANYTHING. She said yes, and winked ;).

So if you think this is a girly phone, then first you are wrong, and second do not get it. I am man enough to have a white phone. Also, as soon as I opened the package on thursday and saw this beautiful ELEGANT sexy device, I was as aroused as I was on my wedding night..

Its the opposite of the lets say magic mouse white, its more "painty" like as if it was a 3rd party paint job somehow. that and the details around the antenna dont feel as refined. I am trying to decide and here is my real issue:

do I want it to match my mouse, keyboard, duet, white projector? or do I want it to match the MBP. I like the idea of all my accesories being white (phone, mouse, keyboard) and then I saw it and i thought... well maybe i could live with the black iphone.

I got my iphone warranty swapped so now i am holding a super brand new and shiny 32GB black and I have a craigslist ad going for 600$ and if someone bites I will do it. but if not, i dont know how much money and hassle i want to waste. Black is cool too.

I do meet a lot of people and they always notice my phone and so i am one of those guys so that is semi important to me. The black is already awesome but im afraid the white isnt awesome-er enough.

Do you guys think the white is that cool?

Plus theres the whole metro war right now. I would rather impress girls than guys but still...

I need help deciding.

^ Thats a big part of why I am waiting, theres not much more time left until its time for the next. If it was about to be a full year cycle, I would have spent the 160-200$ (its not selling at 600$ yet, i might have to lower the price)

Then again, the whole point is having it now when it is new and rare and exclusive, not when every re-ups and then everyone has the white.

See that's what I am saying. You opened up the wound even more. The fact that it is "girly" is the point.

Cuz we are trying to bait and attract the "girlies" :) duh
 
Besides the arbitrary females that want to do things to me..

I wanted to get it to be different, EVERYONE has the black iPhone, so now I do not...

And I feel amazing about it, not being the same that is..

I got a white one; my GF loves it; her GF's love it. My guy friends couldn't care less. It's a phone, that happens to be white, and cool.

I have a white Macbook, thought it'd be cool to have a white phone. End of story.



p.s. And I didn't need an effin forum to help ME make the decision.

Dude, if I had a white Macbook this decision would have been 1 million times easier. But instead, I have a silver MBP with a black bezel and the iphone is silver with the black bezel...

I thought I had my mind made up about keeping black, but now I just climbed the fence again and am back on it.

I just want to be different-er than everyone else.
 
How flagrant would it be if I got the white iPhone, got a pink bumper, and got a white iPad with a pink cover to match it all together? :D

When your'e a pretty boy like me, girls just look for excuses to talk to you.

"oh is that the new white iPhone? Lemme see!" Boom, icebreaker.

Also, is there anything arguably more important that I should be making the choice of what I buy on? More important than girls? In the grand scheme of things? No.

Theres a war out there, one which if one loses, their DNA will be weeded out of existence. Us young ladies men are like assassins out there, and we employ any techniques we can to lure our prey.
 
If a grown person cannot decide between tne colour white or black then something is seriously wrong. It's like tea or coffee....oh, the pain of it all! LoL

Normally I would decide this really easy but there are some awkward elements involved that make it complex such as the fact that I don't want it bad enough on my own to go through the effort of making it happen since upon seeing it I immediately felt underwhelmingness like it was a Nintendo DS or something and although I liked the back, the black just pops nicer. So before I can feel comfortable keeping the black which is more convenient and practical, I need to make sure that I wont regret not spending the extra 200$+ early adoption fee as it were. If I had been wowed at the store I would have been convinced, but that uncertainty, coupled with the fact that despite having all my accessories be white, my MBP will still be black, means I wouldn't have perfect color synchronicity across all devices anyway so its all very multifarious. Basically it boils down to just the fashion perspective and trying to calculate the weight of that element and its worth vs 200$+.

These are the same people who obsess over tiny scratches and other minor imperfections.
 
I used to have a white digitizer on my white 3Gs and both guys and girls would compliment me on how sick or "ballin" it looked. Straight up, an all white iPhone looks boss. The only thing that you really have to decide is if you wanna spend the extra $160...
