I've been using ITunes on a Max mini for many many years, I've never had music deleted. More details might help us find a solution or a quick visit to an Apple store. As said above, that is not normal behavior. I have a very large library and where ITunes does have problems, deleting music has not been one, for me.

That's not usual behaviour. Have you tried with a different library? Or any other steps?
I've spent hundreds of hour on the phone with apple care, created new libraries, installed new OS and New I Tunes. This has been an almost full time job. I've been to the Apple store only to be told by one of their so called Geniass's
that this couldn't happen, but it still does. When I Googled I Tune deletes files that's what led me to this page and there where multiple posts of people having the same problem .I'm Sick of Fooling with it and fed up with Apple period!!!!! I've never had this problem with a Music Library with Windows, Maybe I got a lemon or one with a failing hard drive, I've asked Apple to replace this computer but they ignore me.

Then use other software if you don't want to work to solve the issue. I've been using iTunes for over 10 years on every platform (Mac OS 9, macOS and Windows) and have never had it delete anything unexpectedly.

Clearly there's something wrong with something in your user account or library (not the library file itself). Does the same thing happen in a test user with known-good music (i.e. freshly imported from CD or freshly downloaded from the iTunes Store)?

No Music Purchased from I tunes store has ever been deleted, but 99.9% of my music has been loaded from cd's. When I look at albums ie. half the songs are missing not on all but many. I've reloaded Cd's numerous times but it still happens.Like I said trying to maintain a library of 12,000
songs has been a full time job .I've been doing this for a year and a half, thats why I'm so fed up!

Since you didn't say you tried it: create a test user, import some music, test and see if it gets deleted unexpectedly. If not, then it's an issue with your user account.

Do you mean set up a new user acct. with a new user log in Etc.

Where is your music being stored at? Is it on an internal harddrive? NAS?

This is not normal and I have a sneaking feeling there might be something we are not hearing about?

Also, when you go to the folder location is the media gone also or is the media still there?

Are you signing in to iTunes under a different account? Do you have multiple accounts that are not linked to each other?

Agreed. Been using iTunes across many Macs since version 1 , on a NAS, and now on a Win 10 box, and the only problems I have seen have all been related to accounts and/or library access.

99% of the time issues are user causes and fixable.....at least for me and the users I have supported as a Mac tech.
