Hi and here is the thing. I performed factory reset on my iphonex. I was adviced to do so because it froze black at two times- once month ago and once today. Anyway i erased everything bla bla, and as an idiot as i am, when i was setting it up, i decided to use strong passcode with words and numbers, the momemnt i verified it i forgot it. Yes, horrible idea. The thing is i had to use old used (by many people) windows laptop to restore. I am not very good with these things since i am new to apple. So just to make sure i deinstalled itunes and installed it again on the laptop (just to be sure), than i connected them, force restarted the device and since it was never synched and not signed to apple id (since it was right after reset) i used the recovery or however its called, i followed apple's official guide and it (after like 15 minutes), factory restored my devices (good old white screen)
So my question is- did this actually somehow reinstalled (installed new copy of IOS) on my device or it simply modified the existing one on the devices (because it said its downloading softoware for your device and showed me my device serial number)
And if so, is it possible this old used laptop somehow to installed something else (fake IOS, malware?) through the itunes? I ask because the laptop wasn't the most secure one but thats what i got. Again i reinstalled itunes just to make sure its not some scam. I hope you get what i am fearing here. Thanks for any answers :)

Yeah, you are definitely safe. Apple has put a lot of work into making sure that only iOS code made by Apple can be installed onto devices. It's practically impossible to install anything else, actually. iTunes would have securely downloaded a completely new version of iOS 11 from their servers, and installed it onto your phone.
