I know the title of this thread is weird but let me explain.
I threw up on my iPhone 4 while heavily intoxicated and then (while heavily intoxicated) I decided to give it a good clean so I pulled a genius move of putting it under the tap to wash it with soap and proceded to go to sleep
I dont remember ever doing it but its all on CCTV. I probably deserve a darwin award

When I woke up in the morning the iphone wasn't working (obviously) so I went to the Apple store and purchased a new iPhone and placed the iPhone 4 on rice.
But the question is what can I do with the broken Iphone 4? Its all clean now but broken. My insurance company wants me to pay £100 to get it fixed but is it even worth it? Is there anywhere I can sell a water damaged phone? Is it dangerous to sell my phone as all my personal data is still on it?

I'll be Mr Doom and Gloom in this thread and say that it's probably broken beyond repair after that.

I keep you guys updated if it ever comes back alive
If I wipe my phone on iCloud would that work?

That's your biggest mistake. You can get replacement iPhone's for $200 no matter how damaged your phone is as long as it's not in small pieces pretty much.

He could have went to Apple and probably got a replacement for free, especially being that his story is funny.

I was not aware of it, I might try it
Who knows I could get lucky and they might fix it for free
But I still have hope that the rice will suck all the moisture out

If you do go to Apple store. Just tell them the truth of what happened, then give them the impression that you expect to pay by asking the cost of replacement. You'll have a good chance of getting one for free, as long as your not dealing with an ******. Most of the Apple employees have nice attitudes. At least here in NY.

Go to Apple, return your new phone, hand them your old one and exchange it as an Out of Warranty exchange. It should cost you $150 for the iPhone 4.

Knowing what it's been through, I wouldn't even bother asking them to fix it.

I don't know what takes priority here but i think its;

face palm and then rolls eyes !!

Thanks for the smile i have on my face.

lol this is seriously one of the biggest fails i have read in a while... post this on fml pls :D

Can you please upload the video from the CCTV? I'll give you a dollar (£0.63).

I need to see this as well hahaha... but I've been there except instead of vomit it was just a lot of sand. Thank god for cases and more tolerant friends eh?

maybe you could take apart the phone to double check? but too risky, just put in rice for a while haha..

Mistake

#1 - got too drunk
#2 - threw up on the phone
#3 - tried to wash it
#4 - waiting until next day to attempt dry out
#5 - bought a new phone instead of attempted dry out
#6 - bought new phone vs replacement - possible savings
#7 - thinks somebody wants his piece of crap
#8 - considers selling it without knowing if personal stuff has been deleted.

How many more stupid things can one person do?

Sorry to hear your phone is broken, but I have to say that this is one of the funniest threads I have seen in a while. I you could post that video on youtube and get some hits lol.
