And his desk cost $960.

Oh well, I think my Ikea furniture should suffice enough for me :p

I was thinking the same thing. I am looking at a $120 desk from ikea and guess what it does, same damn thing a $960 desk does, supports my dual TB displays w/ a couple lacie 2tb thunderbolt drives. save on the desk and chair and buy better hardware. Truth be told however, If I had the money to drop on a desk and chair like that... no questions asked, best set up.

If your going to have the mini sit on the desk you should pick this up.

Have one, it's brilliant.

While a desk setup like this might be expensive, you need to weigh up what your desk means to you, how much time you spend there etc. It's worth spending extra to get something that supports you and makes you comfortable in your work environment.

I have an Eames chair (copy) for my desktop chair and it's epic comfortable. I do a lot of music production, and I can sit in my chair for hours without getting cramps or feeling the chair underneath (cheap chairs often the longer you sit the more you can feel the leg(s) underneath).

While you're in the middle of making something, being entertained or getting work done, you don't want the workflow to be disturbed by a crappy chair. If you spend a lot of time with your mac, surely that warrants enough investment to make your working/entertainment environment as relaxing as possible.

You can, but you're not supposed to - it's against the electrical code.
That would only be an issue if he was trying to sell his studio. He'd have to fix it if the inspector caught it, not that he'd sell his studio with the displays still attached to the wall anyway.

Really, a few feet of 14-2 (Romex) wire, a junction box and a socket would do the trick. It's very easy to add another wall socket to a circuit as long as it's not close to capacity (most aren't).
