Hi all.
I'm just here to rant a bit.
I'm a sucker for Apple products. I love my 13" pro. I love my iPhone and my older iPods.

I want more real estate. No, my house is fine - I'm talking about my screen. I can't multitask on my 13" well. I think it's flawed. I want the 17 inch macbook pro but I can't even come CLOSE to mustering up the cash it takes to acquire one. I also crave the speed. The cores. It's an amazing machine - one I'd love to have some day.

Hey Tim - can you send me one? Please? lol.

Ever consider an external monitor

Are you trying to buy one from apple? You should look at Amazon warehouse for a 17". My friend bought a 15" 2.2ghz i7 for 1350 and got the applecare registered the day he received it.

I just don't really trust refurbs/3rd party resellers. I know I should but I got burned.

and on the External Monitor - but that sort of defeats the purpose for me. Most of my work is done at school or on the train.

17" are you sure you don't want a 19" or larger? Are you sure you're sure?

but really that would be too big/heavy for me.

He actually got $350 from Amazon because it didn't have iLife, which is included on the restore discs. He also purchased the Apple care, so he has about $1200 in a $1800+ machine.

Amazon has an amazing return policy too, btw.

You could also buy a refurbished one from Apple's own website. The run as cheap as 1800 I was considering one but I love the older style MacBook Pro too much lol

You could try walking into the glass doors at an Apple store and breaking your nose. Some crazy old lady is suing Apple for millions for this - maybe you can at least get a MBP out of it ;)

I'm happy with my 13 inch.

:D:D:D:D:D:D

And your woman too.

Sorry.

I started with 14", then got 12", then got 13", then got 15" and now have arrived at 17". While it is harder to get it up, it is also much more satisfying to have 17".

Though doing it yourself with 17" must be quite exhausting.

Hey Tim - can you send me one? Please? lol.

your macbook has hyperthreading, so it adds two virtual cores to your new 13" macbook, and yet 4 cores isnt enough for you?

just get an external monitor, and be done with it. a 17" will be too heavy. lol

I have had every size apple laptop they made in the last 10 years. from 13" ibook, 12"powerbook-17". I currently have a 15" high res from 2010 and I love it. Its the perfect sweet spot between portability and big screen. I threw in an SSD and it screams! I recommend high res 15".

17" is gigantic if you are on the train and in school. Try putting that on your desk in a classroom or open it on the train. I couldn't fit mine in the airport security bins.

I want the 17 inch macbook pro

there are 2008 models that are fast enough for most applications
you can buy them for around $200
but i agree with you that bigger is better
apple better start thinking different
because the people want bigger
look at my thread on the 19 inch macbook pro
the thread was locked because it is more controversial than talking about roswell aliens
also apple need a bigger phone because samsung is eating their lunch
people want 4.5+ inchers not the tiny iphones
jobs said that the 7 inch tablet was a fail
but actually its the perfect size for phone and tablet in one
so hopefully the apple people eat humble crow pie and make the 7 inchers
