Since their address is in Echo Park, CA, I sent them an email asking if I could pick up a computer to save on shipping. I will let you know if they reply.

well if anyone lives by that area you should go and "check" it out.
just tell us how it goes.

if they are "Authorized Internet dealer" then Apple should have some info on them. Just ask apple and voila!

Q: Do I have to pay sales tax?
A: At this time, only shipments made to addresses within the state of NY must pay an additional 8.625% sales tax to the subtotal. If you have resale or tax exempt status, please make your order by Phone, Fax or E-Mail, since we do not have this option available on our web site as of this time. We do not collect tax for orders shipped out of New York State.
Yet it looks like things ship out of new york...

Hmmmmmm....
My bull meter if running high...

That whois data is a standard private whois used by thousands of yahoo stores - they all have the same EmeryVille, CA address for private whois.

A quick google search shows that their FAQ is just a verbatim rip off from Buy Rite Electronics:
http://www.buyriteelectronics.com/faq.html
http://www.topbuybest.com/index.php?task=view&id=14

Could be that they're owned by the same place but it's more likely that TopBuyBest just ripped the FAQ from Buy Rite Electronics which IS in NY. In any case, unless this "store" operates out of the local library and is somehow able to get pricing on ipods below what Apple sells them for, then it is a scam.

Don't be an idiot. Yes, I meant that to be harsh.

Prices for Apple products vary by about $5. The absolute best deal you're ever going to find is a new system bundled with "free" RAM or a printer or an ipod. I say "free" RAM because there's usually an installation fee that is close to the value of the RAM. Other things to look for are places that don't charge tax (tho you're supposed to report the purchase and pay your local state by April 15th) and free shipping. That's it.

Apple products have fixed prices. .

If you see a reputable dealer selling Apple products for significantly less than the going rate, check the specs. You'll find that it's an older version that's being liquidated.

Actually, when my dad bought me my Titanium Powerbook G4 nearly 5 years ago he got it for something like $250 below listprice at macuniverse.com. That was because of a typo they made on the site though :D
