I really want it to break. I have applecare until 2011 or 2012, I hope it will die on me by then. I just love the new uni-body design and the 7 hour long battery, I really don't care if it is not removable. Now I am not asking how to break my computer without apple know cause thats called Fraud, am I right? Who else wants there computer to break so they can get a nice replacement? I currently have a Zagg invisble shield on my macbook pro, I also have the incase sleeve on it so it won't break on me anytime soon I guess.

wow. i'd ask if you were serious, having a mental episode or got drunk off some sick-@ss liquor of some sort but I get the drift you are actually not kidding.

thanks for the amusement. this post was my amusing FAIL read of the day...not quite an EPIC FAIL but a FAIL nonetheless so i'll take it.

plug your computer into a 220 volt socket, the ones for washers and dryers, say lightning struck your house

... say lightning struck your house

Which also isn't covered by AC.

No, you really don't want to go through all that trouble to get a new computer. I've gone through three MacBook Pros, each have failed and I got to spend many, many hours on the phone with Apple each step of the way. First they'll ask you to send their computer in for repair and you'll be without it for 7-10 days* (The second time I sent my first MacBook Pro in I was without it for just over a month!). Then they'll try to repair the problem and then send it back to you, if it continues to have the problem then you'll have to send it in again.

If you get it back and it still performs the problem then you might want to consider escalating the problem to a supervisor. Then you might get somewhere with the replacement, although it will depend heavily on the supervisor. You can guarantee that you'll be spending hours and hours on the phone trying to sort out the issue, weeks without your computer, and lots of persuasion to the Apple employees on the other side of the phone to get a replacement. It really is not worth it, I had actual hardware problems with my MacBook Pros and it took me weeks to even get close to replacements.

And right now I'm trying to get a replacement for my MacBook Air because of hardware problems. So far I've spent over 25 hours of time on the phone with AppleCare over a three month period, been without my laptop for almost three weeks, been to the Genius Bar four times and I have another Genius Bar appointment today. Now, after all that work, the last person I talked to on the phone said that I might get a replacement. It has just been a major headache and I felt like I was getting nowhere until yesterday (three months after I first contacted Apple about the problem). If you want to go through all this trouble to try to get a new computer when your computer doesn't have any problems then try your luck. (read as: You'll probably have a tougher time than me to get a replacement) Now off to the Genius Bar...

1. Install Windows Vista in bootcamp (Not Xp, Vista runs hotter)

2. Purchase Crysis, Fall Out 3, and other highly intensive games.

3. Set fan speed to 3000 rpm

4. Move machine off of lap

5. Run Crysis

6. Wait for machine to go critical and go into heat standby mode.

7. Call Apple Care

8. ???

9. Profit ;)

With iPhones and iPods, they are much easier to break/brick and get a replacement on the spot. With computers however, they are much more willing to replace induvidual parts, to the point where it would be really hard to get a full replacement. Unfortunately at this point if you tried to sell it you might get $800; the key word it might. I would start saving your money.

I'll be the first to offer you $10 and a Starbucks gift card for it! :p
