I would be careful about the durability. If I order a MacBook it will certainly be the standard silver.

None. Apple may do something like this in the future, but no indications are on the radar at this early stage.

I would even go further and say it's one of the selling points of the new MacBook.... thus I doubt color options on the MBP line will come anytime soon.

Good Point. I love how the space gray looks but the rMBP 13" is probably what is best suited for me.

I think it is for most people that are willing/able to spend $1300 on a new computer. I think it looks phenomenal but 12'' (which I found 13'' to be a bit restricting) and limited internal hardware just doesn't seem like a great decision. I just purchased a 15'' a few weeks ago but am going to return it and grab the updated 13'' as soon as BestBuy has it available.

I don't think there are really anymore color issues after the original Slate iPhone 5. Both iPhone's and iPad's have been available in Space Grey aluminum for two years now and there hasn't been any issues.

Anyone seen any rumors on this possibility???

The iPhone 6 ans 6+ come in multiple colors, the iPods come in multiple colors, ipads do and now the new MacBook does. I think its a safe bet Apple will also bring it to the rMBP's. My money is on when the Skylake models are announced. Seems like the obvious and most appropriate time to introduce the Gold and Space Gray option along with the regular silver version.

And the tapered design, I know many are all for non tapered but I'd go back to a 15" if they went tapered. My wrist/forearms can't handle the indentation of the boxy 15", I'd go back if they went tapered. I have a feeling that's the future of rMBP with the new battery tech.

The grey on the newer generation iPhones faded pretty quickly when not protected by a case. Sure you touch your phone more than a laptop but do you think the anodizing would fade on high touch parts like where you rest your wrists or the opening slot?
