I currently have a Series 7 Stainless Steel in Black, and was planning to upgrade to the Series 10 Titanium, but all of the colors (natural, gold, slate) seem to have some sort of earthy/brown hue to them, which I'm not sold on. I would prefer to not get the aluminum model, but the black seems most appealing. Any thoughts or other perspectives?

Looks like Hermes offers a shinier “silver” Titanium rather than the natural Titanium, which I agree has more of the earthy tone to it. I would need to see the slate and gold in person. I think the watch face Apple is using for advertising makes them all look earthier

I have the DLC coated series 4 in SB Stainless steel and I am trying to decide between the aluminum jet black and the titanium slate gray. I like the jet black better but I like the premium titanium and I’ve always had the sapphire crystal display and I don’t know how I feel about the lower end glass.

I have to admit I was impressed with the new Black Aluminum in the presentation but I bought the black Stainless steel last year and my plan was to trade my SS7 Gold for a new gold. I like the new link band but it is not yet available in the gold only the other two colors so will need to wait with that. I alternate between my watches so wanted the new gold although not sure of the color, I have a very nice gold Kate Spade band I wear with my gold watch now and have a feeling the colors will not match.

We’re in the exact same position!

I ruled out the jet black aluminum. The screen scratches too easily. I’ll either get the slate gray series 10 in titanium or the black ultra 2.
I am leaning the same way. Now I need to figure out my iPhone color...

Was excited to upgrade my watch but they put silver behind the Hermes tax and it looks like the bezels got a bit bigger too. Shame.

I ordered the Gold in the Titanium but for those on the fence I am willing to bet that the Slate Gray is a lot darker than it appears. That just did not want to have two black colors for the watch. Last years SS 9 was called Graphite and it is a black watch. Although the pictures and that new band really look more of a taupe gray. I want to say last year there were some of the cases that said what color they were and when you saw them in person they looked different.

The slate titanium looked like it was a slightly warm slate color in the keynote, but I wonder if that is the light. I'm eagerly awaiting some good quality hands on videos to see what it really looks like. I'm still undecided between the black aluminium and the slate titanium...

That slate looks black in the video. Going to get that one if that’s the case. If it turns out to be grey, I’ll just get the jet black aluminum. I can’t get past the bright orange button and crown on the Ultra.

I noticed that, but the video is fairly low quality and it's difficult to tell with the light. I hope there will be better videos out soon.

💯 I think the colors of all of the watches in this update is lackluster. I’d skip this update entirely and either go for a series 9 (perhaps graphite SS) around “Black Friday” sale time or wait until the Series 11….when Apple is going to have to do something to inject some life into the color of these watches…and bands!

Around the 7 minute mark is where he shows first the aluminum, then the titanium and finally the Hermes. The colors look better than apples product photos and I think the color is more accurate in the video.

I completely agree with you. The slate looks much closer to black. Personally, I strongly dislike Apple's product photo for this color, so I'm really glad it looks darker and less "earthy" in real life.

I am in the same boat as you are. Not a fan of the titanium colors and not a fan of losing the sapphire crystal on the aluminum version. I have had my watch for 6 years and it still looks very good even after many bumps in to various things. Losing the durability would be disappointing just to get the color I want (jet back)

i'm not seeing any brown in my slate Ti watch. it's absolutely gorgeous! I originally planned to get the shiny black aluminum (coming from a black SS 7) but I got scared off with all the thread taking about scratching and comparing it to the jet black iPhone..... i got an ISPU for the Slate Ti and slate milanese band and i'm in LOVE! SOOOOOOOO gorgeous! (and i do like that the sapphire face is better, for me, than the aluminum face as far as scratching goes!)

As others have mentioned, the slate is basically black to my eye. When light reflects it can have a silver tint but the way that the screen blends into the body makes it appear pretty dark.

I just went with aluminum. Apple decided to give me a discount this year on the best color, so I took it :)

I've had the graphite S7 in the past - I hated that color, as I had a bunch of bands designed for the black steel that really didn't look good with it. Jet Black lets me use all those bands again.

Picked up my Ultra 2 in black on Friday. Found the milanese loop clasp frustrating. Swapped out to an old black sport band. Looked at the Slate AW Series 10 Titanium and it was much darker than I expected. Made me reconsider BUT I really like the rugged look of the Ultra. I like extra weight personally. Haven't decided. If I'm only ever going to wear sport bands, I may return the milanese for an ocean.
