Where are the 4K or 5K passive 3D monitors?

A lot of time wasting at CES, including the lack of 6-core mobile CPUs, 2TB 7200RPM 2.5" SATA hard drives, 2TB 2.5" SATA hybrid drives, 2TB 2.5" SATA SSDs, and 64GiB RAM mobile workstations.

You didn't hear? 3D is dead. (http://gizmodo.com/3d-tv-is-dead-lets-hope-smart-tv-is-next-1677633906) Even TV manufacturers are actively removing it from their high end sets. If you (and apparently only you) really want a 3D display with higher than 1200 vertical resolution, you'd better pick up a small 4K TV that supports 3D and upgrade your computer to handle the resolution.

I've been using a Sony Playstation 3D display as my primary monitor for years now, and it works really well with 3D content.

Is there such a thing as a 32 inch 4K passive 3DTV ?

Last time I looked at a 32 inch FullHD TV it looked horrible to be used as a monitor, and a 55" screen is also not ergonomic for work.

Nope. There are only a few (like literally 3 or 4) passive sets on the market and they are all 49" and up. And you'd better move quickly on those... they are all last years models.

Then your suggestion makes no sense.

Then let me break it down for you: The monitor you desire does not exist, and given the direction the market is heading, will never exist. 3D is effectively a dead technology as far as manufacturers are concerned. You will either compromise on the requirements (compromise on a 1080p monitor or a large 4k TV) or go without one. It's that simple. Take it or leave it.

3D is not dead. I go often to the cinema and almost exclusively to watch 3D on a big screen. What is unacceptable are films not recorded in 3D but which are just 3D conversions: useless, expensive, ripoff, worse experience than 2D, and give 3D a bad rep with the uneducated masses.

I neither take it not leave it.

Don't pull that bait and switch crap. We aren't talking about 3D movies in a theater (where there has been a dramatic year over year decline in 3D movies available since they peaked in 2011). You asked about a 3D monitor to use with your computer with very specific requirements. It does not exist. It will not exist in any sort of foreseeable timeframe.

You can play all the games you want, but in the end you will either compromise your standards to get something or you will get nothing. It's that simple.

There are already 40" 4K 3DTVs from reputable brands. I am sure it will trickle down to 32" in the next couple years, in the same way that FullHD went down to 23", as 3DTVs already exist at 32".

And regarding monitors, AMD and NVIDIA keep on pushing new gaming monitor technologies. I don't care anymore if the Mac does not support them, as it is obvious Apple will not make computers fitting my needs again.

I cannot find a 40" curved 4K 3D TV.

All I see is either flat, not 3D, or huge.

I want it curved as 40" is already too big and it's just me at the sweet spot.

The answer has not changed since January. What you are hoping for is not generally desirable and will probably never be offered in the marketplace. Nobody else wants this display you are hoping to buy.

I think you are wrong. Curved monitors and 40" curved TVs have only appeared recently. I think the next cycle will bring a 40" curved 4K 3DTV.

I was not looking for curved in January.

There has been a 1440p 27" flat 3D monitor for some time, but I am not interested because it only has 1 DisplayPort (I did not even bother checking if it would also work for 3D video sources that are not a PC).

I guess I would also take Panasonic's Wide Colour Phosphor.

But additional requirement: DisplayPort 1.3

What is really needed is a 21:9 5K 3D monitorTV with the above requirements. I don't like overconsumption.

I find only five 3D monitors higher than 1080p and they are all G-Sync/3D Vision.

That's five more than you'll probably find this time next year. Notably LG, Sony, and Samsung have all stopped producing any 3D displays in the consumer space. It's over. There hasn't been an Nvidia 3D Vision software release since 2013.

There have always been few 3D monitors to choose from.

At least 23 3DTV models have been released in Europe this year: Panasonic (16), Loewe (3), LG (IPS Dolby Vision), Grundig (OLED), Telefunken (curved), Medion (78" curved). All 4K.
