I've been playing the piano since I was 7, which puts me at 11 years worth of playing now. I started out with an electric keyboard and started playing stuff by ear. Afterwards I took lessons and just recently stopped at the end of my senior year in high school. I can read sheet music now but mainly play by ear.
Piano lessons would probably be your best bet. You need someone who knows what they're doing to personally explain stuff to you. Internet tutorials won't really help you out.
