So just now I plugged a new keyboard into my Linux machine at work and booted. When I logged in, I got a pop up that said:
Now, I'm not a Linux noob, I've been using it for five or six years longer than I've been using Macs, but I don't deep dive into the various options and settings - once I get it working, I've learned to leave it alone so it'll keep working - and I'm damned if I can work out from that message whether pc101 refers to the X system settings or GNOME settings, and which of then actually refer to my keyboard (I did count ... it's a 105 key keyboard).
No big deal, but this is why I'm relieved to get home to my Mac.
(Other annoyances - apparently broken firewall and inability to set up screen spanning in a shorter time than 16 hours)
The X system keyboard settings differ from your current GNOME keyboard settings.
Expected was model "pc101", layout "us" and no options, but the the following settings were found: model "pc105", layout "us" and no options.
Which set would you like to use?
[Use X system settings] [Use GNOME settings]
