I feel like no other bands besides the dark blue, white and maybe the pride bands really look all that great with it (IMO)... I got the space grey instead but going back and forth about canceling me order and getting the blue.... what does everyone else think? The space grey seems more “universal” but blue is my favorite color. I’ve been saving for this for a while and want someone I’ll love but also looks good

Silver, Gold, or Black are the best options.

Does one really appreciate the novelty of a cool color after a few weeks? or would you rather avoid those issues of matching up watch bands for as long as you own the watch?

If you want to try new colors get an Apple Watch case off Amazon, you can even swap them out for a new Apple Watch color every week. Base Apple Watch color should be “generic” imo

hope that helps

Get the blue... I am going for the Red probably. it does stand out but at the same time not everyone will have one.

I'm with OP on this. Tried the blue in the store, totally up to buy it with one of the new Hermes band. None of the colors matched except for the blue one. Really like the purple color but even that one didn't look good on the blue watch. In fact, and I am really sad to say this, depending on how the light fell on it the blue watch looked like a toy.

So I decided to stick with my gold S5 and get the orange band instead. Money saved.

My choice was blue, with the dark navy band. Should be here next week. I chose it because it's a fairly subtle shade of my favorite color, and will go with pretty much everything I'd wear.

I like my current space grey AW, but when Apple came out with blue, it was an easy choice. I also considered red. Maybe next time, we'll see.

FWIW, my last traditional watch was a blue Tag, and the color seemed to work fine. I didn't grow tired of it at all.

The blue is actually VERY suttle. In the aluminium it might as well be space grey at dusk. Maybe in direct light or sunlight would the blue stand out a tad more. I bought it with the yellow single loop, and was afraid it would look a bit too much Cal Bears! (In a Stanford household) but it just looks like a canary yellow on a suttle space grey alternative. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice, but not much different than the alu sport I’ve order since V1.

Have a blue, in all but the brightest light it essentially looks too black. In bright light it looks nice. Disappointing overall.

I was initially not at all interested in the blue. I ordered a gold aluminum as I expected it to be more yellow this time, but that didn't apply to the aluminum gold. I went with the blue after seeing it paired with a white band. I really like it, and the only color bands I think I will avoid are reds, which I wouldn't wear anyway even if I had a black or silver case. It looks nice enough with the Milanese loop that I'd be comfortable wearing it in dressier places. For the most part it looks very dark.

I think you’re limiting your color options way too much. That blue would look good with probably 50-75% of the available band colors, IMO. It doesn’t have to have blue in it to look really good.

Reds, peaches, yellows, browns, beiges, certain greens, and more, would all look really good. Not to mention the leather and metallic bands.

I got the red, and probably 1/3 of the sports loops I have don’t work with it, but I still love the color.

If blue is your favorite color, and you like the blue of the watch, go for it.

I wouldn’t bother with blue or red if you want more compatibility with available bands. Some of the pairings I’ve seen on other posts look horrible. It’s an affront to fashion.

I opted for the silver aluminum for just this reason. I really wanted the Inverness green braided strap and it only works well with the black or silver watches and I detest the black watch colour. The blue or red are unique colours but they don't work well with many straps so I opted not to get either of those.

Blue is by far my favourite colour and a significant proportion of the things I own/wear are blue (just looking around me, my current bag is blue, wallet is blue, wristlet is blue, iPad cover is blue, have a couple of blue iPhone cases, Apple watch strap is blue... you get the idea).

However I just bought an AW Series 6 in Space Grey even though both the Space Grey and Blue were available in the Apple store I went to.

I realised that all my devices are in neutral colours (silver/grey) and it's just easier to match neutral colours with accessories. At the Apple Store I compared the Blue to Space Grey and while the Blue is really pretty, I still felt like Space Grey would be easier to match with things. So bought the Space Grey. So far no regrets with going for the Space Grey over the Blue.
