It happens all the time that delivery times get shifted around—for the better.

Loads of people "abuse" the system and order multiple phones since they aren't 100% sure what they want; they just know they have to order now, now, now after launch instead of making up their minds. Some users kind of know what they want but then order 2-3 different colors just to break up a few boxes and return at no cost to them.

And yet another category, more likely in the stage we're in now, order what they intend to buy, after giving it a think. They then end up with a few weeks delay. During this time one of their local stores gets one in stock so they pick it up locally. Again, easy to cancel the original order and no additional costs.

All this leads to placed orders being cancelled which frees up slots that get passed on to the next guy/gal.

Why don’t they use the same strategy with their other, less popular, products then? If is all to generate more hype? The theory starts crumbling down right there.

Good question. Max is the most money maker. Top of the line!

20 days earlier? I’d agree with you if my order came 3-4 days earlier but 20 days?

For fun I asked this to Chat GPT. Read number 5:)View attachment 2293276

Means nothing. There are millions of orders, if even 10% get cancelled for whatever reason, that’s why people’s orders get fulfilled earlier. Apple don’t need to fire up the hype train or create a media narrative of being sold out, their iPhones sell themselves these days.
Money in their pocket is better than potentially people deciding to keep what they’ve got, or to a lesser extent buy from a competitor.

Many companies add padding to their shipping and delivery time so they don't look like a bunch of monkeys when the item gets delayed due to issues beyond their control. Imagine the hype this small change in delivery date is giving someone people compared to the anger customers get when their amazon order did not get delivered within the 2 day delivery window.

Of course it might also be a color / feature combination that is less popular. Black Ti Pro max 256 might not be a "fan favorite" thus there is less order or more cancellations so the delivery date will be moved forward. It is how supply / demand works and it is nothing newsworthy.

Ha. I can get mine today if I want instead of waiting for another 3 weeks.

Like I said, it is not newsworthy.
