I was in the Apple Store last night in Akron, numerous staff asked me where I got my mesh loop band from, they said it looked great against the space grey sport.

The apple watches were flying off the shelves (so to speak). I was there to compare the sport vs. the apple watch and while I was talking to one of the salesmen, I saw around me people buying the watches left and right. All of them were getting the sport model, I didn't see a single stainless steel model sold.

The few minutes I was there, I saw about 8 maybe 10 watches sold.

While I know some people are quick to pronounce the watch to be a flop, and Apple is withholding specific figures, I was still surprised by the volume of sales just during my short stay at the apple store. I have no idea if that is constant, or if I just showed up during a spike of activity. Either way it was interesting.

It was the Boston store by the way.

I love that Boylston location. Don't forget to get some lunch at the Top of the Hub.

I really think Apple withhold the actual sales numbers because they really didn't have enough Watches produced compared to the actual demands. Maybe they will be more satisfied releasing some numbers in the fall or holiday season, after all the demands have been met and the dusts have settled a bit.

Probably not. I'm sure a lot of people are in the position "I will get one for Christmas."

Apple has been making a lot of people happy during Christmases. iPods, iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches.

Besides, one can just pick one up for a 14-day "try on", so why bother trying it in-store.

It can be helpful to see how the watch looks on the watch first. Especially if you're picking between the 38mm and 42mm, and looking at the different types (sports vs SS, different bands).

I've been back to the try-ons just to look at different bands. Nothing like wearing the SS link in person to see if you like the style enough to buy it and try it for 14-days.

Almost every version of the Apple Watch is available for in store pickup now. Even the Black Stainless Steel, and even Gold Editions at select locations.

So there is definitely no longer a supply bottleneck.

Still can't get the modern buckle by itself. Checked Providence, Boston, Natick, and South Shore since the watch came out. Online says currently unavailable.

The last time I was in Hong Kong near the beginning of July, I had basically the same experience as you in that a ton of people were going to try on watches and standing in line to buy them. I can't say for sure if it's kept up since I live two hours out by high-speed train, but it definitely seemed to be doing fine back then.

Please enlighten me;
The high speed trains in Hong Kong travel roughly 200+ miles per hour if I'm not mistaken. SO, if you live two houurs away, is that really 400 miles +/- ? Im just asking, because I would love to someday ride a train that goes that fast.

I just went to my closest Apple store to pick up my watch, and 2 other people were in there buying one when I did. One got the exact same model as me, and someone picked up a stainless steel with milanese loop.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-speed_rail_in_China

It can go up to 240MPH/380KPH. You have the most advanced rail transportation system in the world traveling through villages and rural areas. It's quite a contrasting thing to see.

It makes Disney World's monorail look stupid, clumsy, and slow. Even at slow speed, the wheels touching the rail makes the whole cabin shake.

I actually don't think I live close to 400 miles away from Hong Kong. My understanding is that the train from Guangzhou to Hong Kong doesn't necessarily travel at full speed, and that when it crosses into Hong Kong it actually slows down further since it uses the Hong Kong subway lines.

However, I've heard of many high-speed trains within China that do travel upwards of 200kph and while I have not had the opportunity to take one of those, I have colleagues who have and it is quite the fun ride from what I've heard.

Anybody I talk to who has an iPhone and sees me using the Watch to send text messages, schedule appointments and create reminders wants one, so I'm not surprised that they're being sold in bunches.

A complete mystery to me. I bought my wife a Watch with a midnight blue band, she loves it, but I'd like to get her the pink band too. Can't imagine why that band is still unavailable, I check weekly.

Agreed, I do wonder whether I should have bought the SS with the modern buckle given these are in stock, yet the band itself isn't, and hasn't been since launch...

Nice to read the stories, thanks everyone.

I love mine, forget about it all the time, people ask me about it, and I have to think a bit, oh, yeah, not many people have one, yet....

Doesn't sound like a hard sell to me:)

Did you notice how busy (or not) the Microsoft store was next door? :D

would you like me to send you a pic of a dead Apple store ? My hometown one is generally filled with blue t-shirts and a few customers.... unless apple actually launch something.

Ah I'm just having a little fun. I've gone to Apple stores when they were dead too. But I've never seen the Microsoft store at MOA busy. ;)

Ditto :)

I have never seen a Microsoft store. Guess that says something.

I haven't been since the launch of the watch, but the Lenox Store in ATL is almost always very busy
The Microsoft Store downstairs is typically like a ghost town
