This has bothered me so much from day one. It makes literally no sense that the home screen and email can rotate upside down on the 6 Plus. Safari doesn't, and no other app does. Just drives me nuts.

I know you can use rotation lock but that limits landscape functionality. I find myself enabling and disabling it a lot, now, whereas I never had to on my 5s and earlier models.

Do you think Apple cares, though?

I would actually love it if everything had the option to rotate fully upside down. In our car without a mount I sometimes place my phone in the cupholder while charging. Running a map here would be ideal. Hell, using the entire UI while plugged in would be ideal this way.

Man I thought I was the only 1 who hates this feature

I totally agree. I noticed this today. When ever I pull out my phone from my pocket and open the lock with Touch ID I notice the screen flips because it was on the opposite side. Annoying sometimes.

Well the iPad does it... Do you complain about that too? Upside down rotation is helpful when taking photographs close to the
ground. Besides, the screen will rotate back to normal in less than a second.... Not a big deal!!!!!

The problem is that you don't take your iPad out of your pocket 50+ times a day

Upside down is mildly annoying. What is massively annoying is when my phone decides not to rotate at all in the messages app. Or it rotates and the keyboard doesn't work until I rotate back to vertical and then back to landscape.

Although it has been beneficial to me because of the case I have on my Iphone 6, I can understand how annoying it can be for others.

You'd probably find it annoying if that app you're using didn't work upside down, like 99.9% of apps don't.

I wouldn't be *as* bothered if Apple had any consistency among its apps in what works upside down and what doesn't.

Oh, I agree. I only use it to charge up my iphone as I read safari. That 1% app is all I want in this use.

Only good thing about 6+ home screen rotation is when 6 owners see it for the first time and try to make their screen rotate too.

How do you get Safari to rotate like that? Safari is one of the many apps that doesn't rotate upside down for me..

Or am I to assume you meant you use something else since Safari doesn't rotate upside down? :) That app you have *looks* like Safari, but is not quite right...

Oh, it's a tweet from Cydia called upsidedown. It apparently was meant to be a joke app. I was looking for something to allow me to stand up my phone and still be able to read Safari. This app did the trick. (You have to be in Safari first in order to turn it upside down) I have only used it for Safari I don't know or think it works for anything else tho.

Ah for jailbroken phones, then. Not for me. Too much hassle. :)

I wish the iPhone 6 Plus would not rotate upside down.

This honestly bothers you? Here's the fix: turn it right side up. Simples!!

And as others have said, the iPad has done this since day 1. Oh noes!!!

Thank you, thank you for COMPLETELY missing the point. Did you... ever notice that the iPad is USABLE in all orientations?

See, let me grab my iPad and turn it on, upside down. Safari works in that orientation, Messages works, Calendar works, Photos works - EVERYTHING works upside down. NO issue.

See, let me grab my iPhone 6 Plus and turn it on, upside down. Email works upside down! Wait, Safari doesn't work. Wait, Messages doesn't work. Wait, Photos doesn't work, and Calendar doesn't work. NOTHING works upside down!

And then, if you couple that with the iOS 8 bugs - e.g. not wanting to rotate back until you rotate the phone once and then back, it becomes a downright nuisance.

Again, thank you for missing the point.

That's because upside down can be enabled/disabled by the developer. So some apps may work upside down while other apps may refuse to rotate.
It can be pretty annoying, so the best move by Apple would be to include a setting to disable upside down orientation. Now you can lock the orientation but you lose the ability to rotate landscape, we need one more choice.

Still find this supremely annoying. Under no circumstances do I ever want an upside down home screen on my 6 Plus. Somewhat bizarrely, seems to have happened a lot lately.

I too was annoyed of that constant flipping around. I switched over to the zoomed view get rid of that annoyance...:p:p:p
