Similar to how reddit does things, I want to delete my account and have posts with my name simply be anonymized with the user name either saying "deleted" or perhaps with an anonymous ID of some sort.

I have no interest in being a part of this community anymore, and it's unfortunate that there is no option to really delete an account; it is only posible to stop using it.

Hi @arn, I want to permanently delete my account as well. If I email support will my posts also be deleted or should I go in and delete the posts myself first (or edit each post and remove the contents and save)? I want all traces of my existence here (for lack of a better term) removed as much as possible. Thank you!

EDIT: Looks like I can only go back a few months with the posts edits.

We don't completely delete accounts, and this is covered specifically in the registration agreement. It's there because it's important that users know what they're agreeing to when they register and before they post anything.

BUT - we do have a very thorough anonymization process, one that meets the requirements under GDPR (users' right to be forgotten). No one with privacy concerns needs to worry, we cancel the account, replace the username with a number, and wipe personal info among other things. And we work with users in cases where posts contain information that can reveal their identities, so that that sort of info is wiped as well.

So as @arn has already mentioned, send us a Contact Us message and we'll take care of it.

BTW, we ask that users not delete their own posts. You can read more about that here.
