Replacing the front glass from Apple cost $199; they will give you new iphone as replacement instead of replacing glass because now glass is directly connected with the screen and its too hard to replace glass only. So they charge $199 for replacement with new phone (yes i asked this from Apple rep and thats what he told me).
can i get a replacement iphone after a couple of months after purchasing the iphone?

Any problems not caused by you under warranty time, they fix for free!

If you broke it/water damage/etc no matter the age of the iPhone, you can pay a one time $200 fee to get them to fix yours or replace it for a refurbished one....

It would definitely make sense for Apple to sell the white backs for those who didn't want to wait for the white iPhone. They would make a killing.

Why do people automatically assume it's refurbished? They're replacement parts. If Apple manufactures 1000 units, 70% get packaged for retail sale where the other 30% for service parts. If an iPhone gets sent back to Apple for a warranty replacement, that phone is totally dismantled, the parts get sent back to their original manufacturers and Apple..er...Foxconn assembles a new one with the parts they get from the suppliers and that one goes into the service part stock. But it's not like Apple takes your iPhone with a defective proximity sensor, fixes the problem, cleans it up and gives it out to the next customer with an issue.

ehh how did you arrive at those numbers? do you work w/ apple to know the specifics of production division or how refurbished units are done?

From Apple's out of warranty page:
"Apple will ship to your designated location a new or refurbished replacement iPhone (“Replacement iPhone”) in exchange for your Original iPhone."
http://images.apple.com/legal/terms/docs/iphone_ars_oow_na_en.pdf

Here is by Apple the definition of a refurbished unit:
"Each Apple Certified Refurbished Product:
is fully tested (including full burn-in testing).
is refurbished with replacement parts for any defective modules identified in testing.
is put through a thorough cleaning process and inspection.
is repackaged (including appropriate manuals, cables, new boxes, etc.).
includes the operating software originally shipped with the unit and the custom software offered with that system. See each products "Learn More" for more details.
is given a new refurbished part number and serial number.
is placed into a Final QA inspection prior to being added to sellable refurbished stock."
