Where do you download Mavericks from and Im assuming its free? Also, its a beta version only, correct? Also, why the download at all....are you a Developer?

----------

I have this exact setup with my new 13" MBA.

My MBA runs cool, quiet, and for a long time (over 12 hrs and upwards of 13 to 14, depending on what is running and how often I let the system sleep). No issues at all with too little CPU but then again I'm not doing anything super heavy with it. Thrilled with the battery life and the smoothness of everything. I have yet to hear any fan noise, which I so appreciate. This is my first Macbook product in 20 yrs.

I'm glad I went for the 8GB RAM and 256GB drive. That is the sweet spot for me. :p

THATS exactly what I was looking for.....an honest, overall review! Thanks....my same system arrives tomorrow!

Same configuration. One question was yours delayed a day by Fedex? Mine comes tomorrow. According to Apple support a big batch of mac airs coming in with mine got delayed.

No delay at all for me. Coming via Fedex tomorrow (they called to confirm). Ordered from Macmall.

Downloading from the app store, Yes I'm a developer.

Just got off the phone with MacMall after they lost my order. They were very kind and told me to order another one and they would give me free FedEx 2-day shipping. It's $15. I still feel they should've given me free overnight for only $15 more since they did waste 8 days of my life already, but I won't be too greedy.

Hopefully, my i5/8/256 will arrive later this week. My 2007 MacBook Pro is hanging on until then.

got mine about a week ago...i5 8 256...and i am absolutley amazed with speed and battery life. It is simply awesome..one bounce on the icon, immediate start up on the opening on the lid.

Works like a charm.

Cool to the touch even after watching a HD movie. Can handle all I throw at it. No lag whatsoever. Even with flash installed, I get 13 hours solid. The SSD speed is "to infinity and beyond".

Best laptop ever. Will never go back to Windows!

Undoubtedly the best computer I've ever owned. Very speedy, no complaints whatsoever. I haven't had to do anything super CPU intensive, but everything I've done so far has just been a joy.

The fan is pretty much nonexistent on this thing. Even when running multiple Flash videos. Simply amazing. Does get a little warm, but nothing too serious.

Indeed. I've been using mine sine the 13th, and I've yet to hear the fans.. Perhaps Apple went completely fanless this time! (Just kidding). But I have to attribute it at the new processors.

Amen. I'm not even looking back.

I've yet to make the full swap, since I installed Windows Office for Mac.

Truth be told, Office for Mac would make things much easier for me, but I keep finding too many bad reviews about it. Are you having any issues with it?

The reason I have it installed is because my University has most Microsoft software available for free, so I requested the software to my school and now I have it on my MBA.

The second reason, is because I only know how to use Microsoft Office, and definitely need to take things slow since I am new to Apple OS and I got a lot of stuff to learn from it, I don't want to make the load heavier.

I have not yet used it, so I apologize I can't give you any feedback.

I wish my school would provide Pages, Keynote, etc for the students, but I guess they have a big partnership with Microsoft only.

As typical, all college students are broke, so that is the third reason; I can't afford pages, keynote, etc, at this moment, I guess I need to save.

But I also overheard that Microsoft will soon release a 2013 or 2014 version of Office for Mac, may look into that, because I will also get it for free; I got the 2013 on my laptop PC, so far so good, was free also. :)

However! As typical... Microsoft loves heavy size programs and the updates are quite heavy as well, If I recall correctly, the office version I got on my MBA needed a stinking ~500MB update (not including the program itself, about 4GB).. So I wonder how heavy is Pages, Keynote, etc..

At the end I will fully switch to Apple, 60 bucks is not much, but I guess I can only work with what I have as on now.

Thanks for the reply. It certainly seems to be a "MS Office-centric" world. I would be interested in hearing how Office for Mac works for you (if it crashes, etc) once you begin using it. Best wishes!
