iPhone i5 on jb Cheeps re-downloading all email. Please help

Granted, I have a huge inbox. Currently around five or 6000 emails. In the past I have cleaned it down to around 1000 and still experience the same problem. Out of the clear blue, all of my emails will begin to download again. Sometimes this happens several times a day. I know that it is severely affecting my battery life. Does anyone have a clue as to what I can do to keep all of my emails from RE-downloading several times a day?

i have moved the snyc window from one month to one week to three days, and it still doesn't help.

set up your account as exchange or IMAP, not POP.
