Anyone know what specs the DIMMs in the new MBP will accept? I'm looking to go 2x3gb PC3-10600 up from the current PC3-8600 (1066mhz ish).

In the past, I remember Apple being very picky about the RAM. An old Macbook I used to have would only accept RAM that had very specific and unusual timing. For example, for the old black macbook with PC2-5300 RAM, normal timing was 5-5-5-15 but Apple timing was something like 5-5-6-16 or something bizarre in order for good compatibility. In that case, I had picked the same speed of RAM and matched the timings to the old RAM. I just increased the amount of it.

Now I'm looking to increase the speed of the modules. I'm curious if anyone knows the required timings or if the DIMMs will even accept 1333mhz modules.

I don't know the exact specs, but I tried comparing RAM module prices, and Apple's upgrade price is pretty competitive to get quality DDR3 RAM for your MBP.

just thought you might want to save yourself the extra headache if RAM is the only spec that you plan on upgrading yourself
