I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned the obvious (I could have missed it of course) - that iAds demonstrate HTML5 doing what everyone expects of Flash, but better.

A sign of things to come?

Shame that HTML5 hasn't been widely adopted yet :(

I can understand Apple's reluctance to include Flash because it performs poorly, but at the same time there's a hell of a lot of media that people have to miss out on. I don't see why they can't just add flash to the bloody phone, turn it off by default and maybe even pop up an alert explaining it doesn't perform too well when you turn on the option.

I think an alert saying "This application is not doing very well" would be against the Apple Philosophy.

Remember, you can't even draw pretend cracks on an iPhone screen...!

In the case of the unwell plug-in warning, I'm with Apple on that one; yelling at my computer for being crap at home is one thing, but it'd be a bit embarrassing on the bus...:)
