Home and Business management?

Is iBank able to manage personal finances with business finances (e.g. home business items, schedule c items, business costs - like Quicken Home and Business)?

There's no reason you couldn't achieve exactly that in iBank 5. One way to manage it would be to set up separate "documents" in iBank - one containing personal accounts (checking, savings, auto loan, mortgage, etc.) and another with your business accounts (business checking, company credit cards, etc.). You can download a trial copy of iBank from the IGG Software website to see for yourself if it meets your needs.

iBank 5 Direct Access and HSBC UK ?

Did this ever get resolved? In other words, does iBank 5 Direct Access work with HSBC UK?

I have recently upgraded to iBank 5 and taken out a direct access subscription after seeing hsbc uk in the list of supported uk banks.

There the problems started. I emailed support and got a quick reply saying there was a problem with hsbc uk but it was working on a fix and would give me a voucher for the direct access subscription .

I replied asking how long the fix was likely to take as realistically i only upgraded from 4 to take advantage of this.

I have sent this email twice and have had no reply.

IGG - happy to take your money, not so quick to support you when their software doesn't work as advertised.

Pissed off UK bank customer

does it work with HSBC UK

After much aggravation in getting hold of IGG support, I eventually managed to connect and download the transactions for HSBC uk and Barclays uk. However it wouldn't refresh after the first time and although they promised on a number of occasions to get back to me with a fix, they never did. Again I reiterate IGG - happy to take your money but don't deliver on either a working product or customer support. AVOID at all costs.

I have given up with them.

This might be a stupid question. But is there a difference between downloading iBank from, let's say the US app store vs european app store? Thanks!

None whatsoever. iBank is a worldwide product, available in a single version that offers support for any currency.

RE: Looking for Ibank 5 tutor

It's my first time using budgeting software and I decided to go with Ibank 5 after reading several reviews. I've entered all my accounts and created a budget but I'm find the manual tells you how to do something but not why or the simple steps I need to take to use the software as intended. Customer support is very accessible but unfortunately my questions are not what they are set up to answer.

I'm looking for someone who will charge an hourly rate to walk me through the basics of this software by phone and then help me apply some of the more detailed attributes.

iBank 5 issues

I used iBank 4 for some time and upgraded to iBank 5 when it came out. I thought iBank 4 was a pretty good program after using Quicken for years. However, iBank 5 removed the capability for scheduled transactions to automatically post to the applicable register on the scheduled date. Now, it takes double, triple and quadruple checks to make sure these transactions are posted. According to iBank, this capability was removed due to changes in the budgeting program. Despite many requests to return this capability or to at least have the capability to turn it on and off, no changes have been made.
Recently my bank made some changes so that when I download transactions, if I delete a downloaded transaction, it puts it back in on the next download. That may sound like a good deal except that when I carry cash in the account and the bank transfers the money to a external account, it creates errors. In the past, once downloaded, a transaction was not redownloaded. I chatted with iBank, sent them logs weeks ago. No updates to fix this and when I e-mailed them, their response was no help. Now, there are 10 or 15 transactions that are repeatedly downloaded and the number is growing. There are other smaller irritations with iBank 5, but one that is coming up is major. Right now I can sync my Mac iBank with my iPad/iTouch iBank through WiFi in my home. Soon however, iBank will remove that capability and require your financial information to be located on their "Cloud" server and the only way to transfer between devices will be through the "Cloud", which I am sure they will be charging for. My problem with this is that I don't want my financial information sitting on someone's "Cloud". Anyway, iBank 4 was a good program, but iBank 5 has become more problems and effort than it should be. I am again starting to look for another financial program.

I have to agree. I wish I hadn't updated to iBank 5. iBank 4 worked fine and iBank 5 seems to be a downgrade rather than an upgrade due to annoying bugs. The scheduled transaction one you mention is a pain, no doubt. Right back when I first upgraded I reported this is a bug and was told it was a new "feature" which I found somewhat ridiculous.

I've also found that some scheduled transactions don't post at all and I have to add them manually. If I sort my scheduled transactions by date there are half a dozen with dates in the past that refuse to post. I thought about deleting them and re-adding them but see a message on screen that doing that will muck up all historical transactions... Do what?!

Pretty annoyed about this "upgrade". I've used iBank for several years and I'm going to report the scheduled-transactions-that-won't-post problem to IGG Software and if they can't find a solution I'm going to start looking for different software to use as frankly it just isn't worth the hassle to stay with iBank even if I am a long standing customer.

iBank Cloud Sync will be a free service

iBank Cloud Sync, as has been stated on the IGG Developers' Blog, will be a free service. However, you will be able to maintain your Wi-Fi sync set up for as long as you continue to run versions of our apps which offer this method. IGG has not given a date for the removal of Wi-Fi sync, so it's not possible to conclude it will be "soon" — forthcoming updates will maintain this capability. I hope that's helpful to know.

Thanks for your reply, however, it is also not possible to conclude that it will not be soon. The tone of the writeup is that they want to go to the cloud sync and get rid of the older sync methods as soon as possible. And if one wants to maintain the newest version/changes, the old syncs will be gone. The term "soon" can be debated all day long.
The gist of my post was that iBank is making changes that are taking away capabilities used by many, and that when gone are making the program less user oriented. By not letting some of those capabilities remain or at least be toggled on or off as a user preference makes iBank more like Microsoft in that they think they know better than the user what he or she needs or wants. I very much liked iBank 4 and was ok with iBank 5 when I thought some of the capabilities taken away would be returned. However, it appears that iBank is more focused on "new" things rather than replacing removed capabilities. Thus, my search for another program is on once again.
