Are you kidding? I installed the screen spanning hack on my iBook and it's wonderful! It's one more great capability. The iBook is built mostly for edu use so more than likely it would be the more durable machine. While the Powerbook looks nicer I love the keyboard on my iBook. For 1.2K(edu discount). I was able to get bluetooth airport and a 60GB hard drive in this sucker. I know the powerbook comes with all that but .33GHz didn't matter to much to me. Plus I plan to sell my iBook after every update so I can stay on top. iBooks carry great resale value. When it comes down to it I think it (if you have the money) comes down to aesthetics. The powerbook is nicer looking. The iBook is cheaper.

Yeah, I bought the iBook 12" as well cause it was just such a fantastic price! After taxes here in Canada, the 12" PB is $750 more than the 12" iBook. That's a HUGE difference! So far (okay, only one day) that damn little thing is fantastic!

I have read many forums on this iBook vs. PBook. What's surprised me is that nobody talks of the following:
- The iBook screen resolution is limited to its display (1024 by 768 for the 12''), even with an external display. The iBook supports only mirroring.
- The PBook (PBook 12'') lets you go up to 2048 by 1536 with an external display and also lets you do dual display. Because of this huge difference (and other reasons mentioned in this forum) I choose the PBook.

I don't consider that a limitation on the iBook, there is a very easy crack to do so you can have the same video features as the PBook...

MUCH better LCD - brighter & sharper
I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned this. I'm looking at laptops at the moment and the Powerbook screens are definitely brighter and clearer than the iBooks. The viewing angle is pretty poor on both but I can live with that.

i just bought myself a new pb yesterday.i looked at the ibook in the applestore yesterday i liked it but i figured i like the pb better.either way u cant lose, they are both great machines.
