I have a 12" PB. If I had to buy all over again, and this is a decision I won't be making for at least another 3 years, is I would have gotten a 15" PB instead.

First off, a larger res screen higher than 1024x768 is required if you are using any of Apple's pro apps like FCP and DVD Studio Pro.

Second, since my PB doubles as a late-night surfing machine, a backlit keyboard is so much nicer and more elegant than pecking at the keyboard in the dark.

Third, the 12" doesn't have a PC card slot, which is essential if you need to capture DV footage off a camcorder onto an external firewire HD without the chance for dropped frames.

Given these things, I wish I had gotten a 15" PB, but in honestly as well, I LOVE my 12" for all the things it can do, which includes burning DVDs and integrated airport extreme.

What do you use the DVD-burner for?

Let me make this simple. The PowerBook rocks. I love my 12" PowerBook as it has the perfect mix of power and portability. I am typing this right now from my bed in a state of heavy hangover (actually I think I am still drunk) after last night's party. In a minute I am going to edit video. FROM MY BED. This sucker has more power than an iBook, but isn't going to crush my intestines like most Windows laptops. THIS MACHINE IS THE BUSINESS!

I was going to buy an iMac G5 up until about a week ago. Then I realized I don't want to lug my new $2000+ investment to Europe and back.

Plus, I'm intrigued by the Powerbook. I've never owned a laptop and I have heard I will really like when I start using it more and more. Also, when I get back from Europe, I might move to New York City. A PB would be perfect for a small space and when I want to come home to DC on week-ends.

Congrats...you will love it.
My Powerbook is my first also and I love it.
You will especialy love the Wifi.
BTW, have a nice trip to Europe and where will you be?
