I've recently come into possession of several iBook Clamshells. They are all in working order, but some of them have some sort of LCD/display issue. It looks like there is some sort of brown/crystalline stuff in between the layers of the panel.

This is one of the "better" screens, but you can see it best in this photo:

My plan is to fix a couple of them up and give the to some vintage Apple fans/friends. I know that there were different manufacturers for the panels and that they use different cables. My question is this: As long as you replace the whole display/cable (or entire lid of the machine), it doesn't matter who made the display, correct?

I've found one on eBay, but the iBook model number is listed as M2453, while the ones I have are M6411s. No manufacturer is given. I obviously don't want to waste my money if they won't work.

The clamshell displays are all compatible. You can even swap in a later 12" G3 iBook display, but there are some restrictions about that. I suggest further research if you want to do that.

Thank you! I didnt realize that the screens from the white G3s would work too. Good to keep in mind if I ever need it.
