So, I have this iBook Clamshell I picked up years ago, and it was working fine. One day I went to replace the hard drive with a nice new ssd, and when I put it back together it did not start up. So, I let it sit for a while, and then I went to turn it on and it worked fine. So, I put it back together, and then it stopped working again. But, now it's not even turning on when taken apart. At the current moment when I plug in the power cable the light doesn't turn on either. I have already tested the Power jack on the inside on the computer, and it is working fine. Is there anything that I can do.

Any help would be appreciated.

Without knowing more, this seems to point toward a short occurring somewhere, possibly a live connection coming into contact with the aluminium plate (the pieces which sandwich between polycarbonate shell and logic board) and grounding. This may also be why you’re not getting the DC-in ring light to come on.

The next time you venture to open it up and try again, bring along a roll of electrical tape or kapton tape and take care to notice spots where metal pieces on the logic board could come into contact with those plates and/or the hinge assemblies. Those are spots I would cut a square of tape to cover to prevent possible unintended contacts causing a shorting issue.

After you open it, the first place I would want to look is the DC-in board itself (see attached), as there are solder points on the DC-in board which face upward where contact with the upper aluminium plate could occur.
