I have an iBook G3 with a mousepad that literally seems to be coming loose from the case. I can remove the battery and push it back up from below, but it soons begins to "sink" into the case again. Is it possible to replace the mouse pad by itself? Or do I have to replace the whole top case shell?

It depends on if the case is broken where the two come together, or the trackpad is broken where they come together. Almost always, you have to buy the two together though. Check out eBay, you should be able to get a replacement top case for not too much.
