Those two keys don't feel different to me on my iBook, they do sound a bit different though.

Did some looking around... I'll get the 1GB module from OWC once I've got the money to. Damn college not buying books back...

Anyway, I've run into another issue: When using the headphone port, the sound "leaks" out through the speakers as well! It likely does this with the external speakers I have as well, but I never noticed it until I tried actual headphones.

Resetting the PRAM didn't do anything (save kick me back to Tiger for a moment... which I'm getting ready to remove if Leopard keeps performing as well as it does.)... any other ideas? I can't seem to find anything else in the sound settings about this...

I really, really hate my luck sometimes. Sigh. A dead speaker I can deal with, but not the headphone jack not working properly.

I'll likely end up sending it back in for repairs (So glad I got the one-year warranty) once the semester's over, unfortunately... feeling pretty relieved that I bought this from Newegg instead of eBay.

Leads me to yet another question (hooray!)... Are they known for resetting your configuration on a machine you send back, or doing anything else odd? I sent my Acer netbook back in a while back when it stopped charging... I had to rush backup all my files in two hours because they said they were going to reinstall their stock XP installation. Granted, there's no rush on the iBook... (not only does it still charge, and reliably, but there's also tons more battery life) Might just be a little irritating to reinstall Leopard. (On the plus side, I don't have to go in and dig out a HD I changed...) Would they even consider speaker issues like this to be major enough to fix? I know there's a local place that would do it, but if I can save putting out $100 I'd like to.

Have you tried different headphones? In my experience some 1/8" plugs don't work on both sides on my Macbook but others do.

I've tried both Sony MDR-V150 headphones and iPod Touch earbuds. The sound comes through the headphones/earbuds as well (and on both sides), but the sound still comes through the working speaker on the iBook.
