I am considering buying a iBook to save some money, but first I need to know...
1)What is the max ram possible in an iBook G4
2)What is the biggest HD that can fit in an iBook G4

1.25 Gb or 1.5 Gb, depending which model of iBook G4 it is. There is either 256 or 512 soldered on, plus one DDR SODIMM socket which can take a 1 Gb PC2700 SODIMM (regardless of Apple's outdated spec which says 512 SODIMM only)

It has to be a 9.5 mm tall drive, so whatever is on offer in IDE 2.5" harddrives. At least 160 Gb.

You have one expansion slot which you can put in up to a 1GB chip of PC2700 RAM... so total it is the base 256 on the board plus 1GB... which is a huge amount compared to the processor.... up to 1.4 GHz. I have a 1.33 GHz with 512 mb of ram which does the job until I do graphically intense operations like watch a video/shockwave movie.
