"Is there some sort of grippy strip that you can get to go on the bottom of your laptop to stop it sliding off your leg?"

My girlfriend asked me this today. I don't think she wants a laptop stand aka traveller coolpad but something with grip on it to stop it from, well, sliding off her legs.

The laptop doesn't really get hot, so a coolpad is not needed.

Thanks!

Yes, although it wouldn't be especially for your laptop. Go to home depot, ask them the same question and they will show you this strip with an adhesive on one side... stick it to the bottom of your ibook and the problem is solved

Alternatively, if you don't want to glue something to the Mac, you can get this high-friction rubbery mesh that is used to line cupboards on boats, and as underlay for throw rugs. Should be able to get it at kitchen, housewares or marine stores.

Just roll it up and put it in the carrying bag, and unroll it & put under the Mac when you use it.

Or just wrap your gilrfriend's limbs in this http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=1&p=31213&cat=1,42207 🙂

This isn't an exact solution to your problem, but try looking at these three products made by Rain Design:
