iBook G4 Screen On But Black

I have a iBook G4 made in 2004 and it turns on with all the lights on the keyboard such as numlock and caps lock but the screen is showing a backlight but is black. Can anyone help?

The backlight is working just the screen is black

So the video card is dead.

This is a common problem. Do you have an Mini-VGA adapter to test on an external monitor? If it doesn't work then it is this problem described in this link. Good luck.

Sounds like the panel is gone, however, might be linked to the cables as they run via the hinge.

This happens to me on occasion. I found that putting the ibook to sleep for 2 seconds and reopening restores the screen. Worth a try! This happens to me maybe 2X per week. This trick has fixed it every time so far *fingers crossed.* Hope my ibook holds out till the new macbooks come out

Well I said the GPU immediately as it's a common issue.
