ibook g4 with 10.4.6 please help

My friend, he owns the ibook g4 but he forgot his computer password. Os he cannot do anything with his computer?

How to recovery password ? Can i format the computer? or what should i do?

I believe that there's a password recovery tool on the OS X DVD (probably in the Utilities menu).
