ibook help!

i am borrowing an ibook to fix for a friend. it turns on and charages, but it goes to the greay screen with the apple logo on doesnt do anything. the wheel wont even come up. i need help asap

Do you haver an OS X install disc? you might need to run disk utility/Repair permissions. or completly reinstall the OS.
