iBook not starting up

I have an iBook G4 933 and just yesterday I tried turning it on and it got stuck on the boot panel: "Login Window Starting". It had been acting funny for a fews before that... is there any way I can start it up all the way to see if something is wrong? 😎

P.s. I already tried repairing permission and the hard disk, but it tells me it has lost connection with the disk. I don't really want to reinstall the OS, because I have important things I need!!

Sounds like your hard drive has gone down the pooper. Sorry to tell you but IMO I think you need a new hard drive.

What disk are you refering to...the disk that came with your system(restore disK)....did you try to reinstall the OS but it failed?

I don't have high hopes but try running fsck all the same. 🙂

Thanks eveybody... I'll try those over the weekend. Hopefully I won't have to clean-install OS X again. 😕
