I have an old g3 700mhz ibook that bit the dust and I'm wondering if its possible to use the ram in my girlfriends g4 1ghz ibook. According to apple-history.com the g3 takes pc100 ram and the g4 takes pc-2100. Does this make the ram compleletely incompatible with the g4 or could it still be possible to install it? sorry if this is a stupid question.

They are completely incompatible...PC100 SO-DIMM RAM has 144 pins, while PC2700 SO-DIMM RAM has 200 pins (among other differences).
