ibook RAM help

ok im thinking about upgrading but does the ibook have another memory slot so i can add another 512mb card?

Yes...go to a respectable online dealer like OWC, DMS, or Crucial and use their memory advisor to find the right RAM for your machine.

Sorry...I should have explained. You should have 512 MB onboard that you can't see or change. You have one additional slot that can hold up to 1 GB of RAM. Do you currently have anything in there?

oh! so i have 2 total slots! no i just have stock memory, so if i bought a 512 stick i could add that?

Right, more or less...if you have the stock memory, it exists on the motherboard where you do not have access to it. This memory is 512 MB for the last iBook G4s (256 MB for the previous generation).

Your user-accessible RAM slot (under the keyboard and AirPort card...see your manual for instructions) should be empty. That slot can accept up to a 1 GB RAM module. Again, make sure you purchase the proper type of RAM for your machine.
